What are Chinese Martial Arts?

Martial arts are composed of many fighting are styles from all over the world. Most martial arts, especially those from Asia, originated in China. The Shaolin Temple mostly, however, there have been many family styles created over the centuries.

So, what are Chinese martial arts. They are not karate, tae kwon do, jujitsu, or akido. Those are Japanese based arts. Kung Fu (which literally means "hard work") is what most people refer to Chinese based martial arts. Kuoshu, wushu, Chinese kempo are other terms.

Within the Chinese martial arts have been many 1000s of styles over the centuries. As said above, the most famous being the Shaolin styles. The 5 animals being some of the original styles consisting of Tiger, Snake, Leopard, Crane and the Dragon. From there, many other styles were formed and most other styles in Asia have their origin from these Shaolin arts. Lai Tung Pai is one such example. Who can do Martial Arts? Everyone!!! Young, old, handicap, man or woman...it suits all. Kung Fu is especially flexible for those seeking to learn an ancient martial art. But be prepared for the hard work and diligence necessary to complete the task. There is no quick satisfaction or fake accolades received while learning this art at a traditional school like Kong Hoi Kung Fu Association - Troy. But stick with it and the satisfaction you receive will be lifelong.
